Welcome onboard<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I am Aur\u00e9lien Gay, an Assistant Professor in Basin Geology at the University of Montpellier (France).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the one hand, expelled fluids at the seabottom may be the signature of deep reservoirs for future exploitation [Newman et al., 2008]; on the other hand, large and violent subsea fluid releases represent strong hazards for anthropic activities such as offshore oil and gas production, C02 storage, trans-oceanic telecom fibers, deep-sea mining [Romanov et al., 2009; Olsen & Skjetne, 2016; R\u00e4ss et al., 2018], or may have a direct impact on global warming [Svensen et al., 2007; Cardoso & Cartwright, 2016]. However, at present, the dynamics of fluid migration in the oceanic sedimentary layers, in particular the upper 500 m, remains unknown in spite of its strong influence on the fluid distribution at the seafloor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In such context, my scientific activities are focused on the dynamics of fluid migration in sedimentary basins using combined approaches for geological exploration:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

> Characterization of fluid seep structures in modern basins;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

> Identification of past fluid release in field record;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

> Modeling of fluid migration in granular media;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
